Solving the Rubik's Cube
I don't know where my Rubik's cube is anymore, but I used to be able to solve one side and two layers. I was pretty impressed with that.
Achelmist Matt has directions for the regular cube, and the other variations like the bigger one and the pyramid. It's worth a look.

This site is better. I use this method and can routinely solve the cube under 10 minutes. Of course, the only reason I learned to solve the cube, and learned it so well, was to pass time at work (that and looking out the "window").
